The Daughters of St. Liborius recently collected shoes from parishioners of St. Liborius in Steger and from students at St. Joseph School in Homewood as part of a donation drive for Share Your Soles.
Donation bins were placed in the back of church and were decorated by Daughters of St. Liborius members and their daughters. Shoes were stored in a garage of a member until they could be sorted, matched and bound together.
The shoes then were driven to Share Your Soles in Alsip, where they were unloaded. Any shoe not appropriate to be shipped to a third-world country is sold at Share Your Soles so that proceeds can be used to ship the shoes. In total, 866 pairs of shoes were collected.
