Crete Public Library recently hosted its Senior Day 2012 event.
During the morning session, more than 25 seniors gathered in the library’s meeting room to hear Citizens Utility Board representative Yami Newell provide information regarding utilities and rates.
The morning session concluded with trooper DeAnn Falat speaking on personal and traffic safety, after which a box lunch was provided by Jimboo’s Italian Beef.
After lunch, the group Those Funny Little People entertained the crowd with a performance featuring rock and roll standards from the 1950s.
Afternoon programs included a lecture by Dr. Peter Sotiropoulos, who spoke about how hearing loss affects individuals and their lifestyle, and a program titled “Fostering Improved Thinking While Incorporating Training Strategies” by University of Illinois Extension personnel Chelsey Byers, who discussed ways a senior can keep their brain sharp and pliable and how brain health is directly related to body health.
