The Crete Park District recently named the Crete Emergency Services and Disaster Agency as the recipient of the Volunteer of the Year Award.
Crete Park District executive director Patricia Polzin presented a plaque to Marty Braccio, ESDA coordinator, that read, “Volunteers make a difference in the lives of others. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of others with your dedicated commitment to the Crete Park District.”
The ESDA is a volunteer organization that provides assistance to Crete residents and neighboring communities during emergencies and times of disaster. The agency also controls traffic and large crowds during the park district’s Trick-or-Treat Trail, and helps keep children safe during the Flashlight Egg Hunt.
To volunteer for the Emergency Services team, visit Crete Village Hall and complete an application that will be turned over to a membership committee for review. Volunteers must be age 18 or older, pass a physical examination and undergo a background check.
