Mokena Food and Wine Fest on Oct. 6

Mokena’s ninth annual Food and Wine Fest will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Oct. 6 on the grounds of the historic McGovney-Yunker Farmstead, 10824 LaPorte Road.
A variety of wines will be paired with dishes from local restaurants.
Participants also may browse the gift booths while enjoying live musical performances by the Illinois Philharmonic Quartet and the Chico Smorgalles Jazz Ensemble.
Tickets are $24 in advance and $29 after Oct. 1 and are restricted to those 21 and older. They are on sale at the Mokena Chamber of Commerce office, 19820 D Wolf Road; Berkot’s Super Foods, 20005 Wolf Road; the Mokena Park District, 10925 LaPorte Road; or at www.mokenafoodandwine.com.
Participating restaurants this year are The Pepper Mill Restaurant, EggCetera Cafe, Tom Kelly’s Chophouse and Pub, Boston’s Gourmet Pizza, Nancy’s Pizzeria, Little Joe’s Pizzeria, Chicago Blu Grill and Bar, and Smokey Barque. More restaurants may be added to the schedule. Check the website for updates.
Berkot’s Super Foods — this year’s wine host — will provide tastings of wine and some of their finest craft beers paired with various exotic cheese selections. The wines, craft beers and cheeses will be sold at the festival.
