Burns wins meatloaf cooking challenge

Sue Heffron, director of food service for Steger School District 194, recently instituted a monthly cooking challenge to showcase the talents of cooks in the district and to encourage chefs to be creative.
One cook from each of the district’s buildings volunteers to participate each month. James Burns, a cook at Columbia Central School in Steger, recently won a challenge that asked chefs to cook a meatloaf with all the fixings.
All winning recipes will be available in the Steger School District 194 cookbook, which is due out in time for Christmas.
