The Navy Junior ROTC unit at Bloom Trail High School recently adopted a portion of Lincoln Highway between Torrance Avenue and Glenwood Dyer Road in Sauk Village.

Students met recently to clean the area they adopted. The cleaning event was coordinated through the Illinois Department of Transportation and is conducted once per quarter.

The program has been at Bloom Trail for the past nine years and is designed to teach kids better citizenship and to make them leaders in both the school and community at large, school officials said.
