Crete Public Library’s Knot Just for Knitters group, along with other community knitters and crocheters, recently participated in author Debbie Macomber’s “Knit 1, Bless 2” charity program.
The group donated 50 handmade blankets and afghans of all styles and colors to the Project Linus organization. The Halos of Hope organization also received 27 caps for chemotherapy patients and blankets for needy newborns.
“These items provide a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children and adults who are ill, traumatized or otherwise in need,” club members said in a news release.
Debbie Macomber’s goal for 2012 was 6,000 donations.
