Zion Lutheran School in Beecher recently introduced an after-school Spanish Club for students in kindergarten and older.
Preschool teacher Kristin LoSchiavo leads the club with the help of Zion parent Denise Garcia. The club meets every Tuesday after school.
“Each week more and more students have shown interest in learning the Spanish language and culture,” school officials said in a news release.
Officials said the purpose of the Spanish Club is to teach basic Spanish fundamentals, including alphabet, numbers and relevant vocabulary, all while exploring the Spanish customs. They also said the club aims to enrich students’ knowledge of other cultures and foster an interest in the learning of foreign language.
“What a great privilege it is to have so many students and parents who see the value of exploring other cultures and learning a new language,” LoSchiavo said. “I feel that the students, at any age, will benefit from having this background as they continue their education into high school and interact with the world around them.”
