The first musical act for Ribfest 2013 has been announced, and it should make fans of classic rock very happy.
The Exchange Club of Naperville and the 2013 Ribfest Committee announced Tuesday afternoon that STYX will be the headline act on July 3, the opening day for Ribfest.
The 26th Ribfest will be held July 3-7, 2013 in Knoch Park, Naperville. Ribfest consists of family activities throughout the event, rib vendors from across the country and music.
All the proceeds from Ribfest go to support the elimination of child abuse and domestic violence.
Marty Walker, Ribfest 2013 chairman, is happy to have STYX coming to Naperville.
“We are very excited about having STYX return to the Ribfest stage,” he said. “This iconic band will bring patrons of all ages to enjoy our event. It is a great way to kick off the weekend.”
The band STYX consists of Tommy Shaw, James “JY” Young, Lawrence Gowan, Todd Sucherman and Ricky Phillips (along with the occasional surprise appearance by original bassist Chuck Panozzo), and have performed more live since 1999 than all of the previous years of its career combined.
Tickets will go on sale in the spring at www.ribfest.net. The site is now under construction.
