Chicago Heights Mayor David Gonzalez recently announced the promotions of three longstanding Chicago Heights Fire Department personnel at an official swearing-in ceremony at city hall.
Upon the recommendation of Fire Chief James Angell, Michael Vittori was promoted from lieutenant to captain; Christopher Bednarek from engineer to lieutenant; and Wendell W. Thomas from paramedic/firefighter to engineer.
The men have a combined total of more than 54 years of firefighting, fire prevention and EMT experience, city officials said.
“In an emergency, when seconds count and lives are at stake, I am grateful to these first-responders for their individual dedication and commitment to serving,” Gonzalez said. “Together, the passion and enthusiasm they bring to work every day reinforces the strength of our fire department and the integrity of our city.”
