Bloom Twp. SD 206 investigating alleged inappropriate faculty-student relationship

A faculty member in Bloom Township High School District 206 is under investigation for allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a student, an attorney for the district said Friday.
The faculty member will not be allowed in school during the investigation, according to attorney Micheal DeBartolo, who would not say whether the faculty member was suspended.
DeBartolo said a parent “recently” told the administration about the alleged relationship. He called it an “isolated incident” and refused to identify the faculty member or say where he or she worked.
The district includes Bloom and Bloom Trail high schools, both in Chicago Heights.
DeBartolo did not define the nature of the relationship but said the district “has no knowledge of sex between a faculty member and a student.”
The Chicago Heights Police Department is not involved in the investigation, Detective Sgt. Joseph Bruni said.
DeBartolo said banning a faculty member from district property is standard procedure during an investigation, which he said will be conducted by the district administration and attorneys.
“The district is looking to complete the investigation in an expedient manner,” DeBartolo said. “They want to make sure all the facts have been reviewed and there’s no rush to judgement.”
