Low voter turnout was expected for Tuesday’s primary election, with a forecast of snow expected to keep the polls something less than crowded.
Second Congressional District candidate Debbie Halvorson (D-Crete), running in the Democratic primary in hopes of replacing Jesse Jackson Jr. in Congress, cast her vote Tuesday morning at the Steger Community Center in Steger.
Halvorson was one of 14 candidates in the Democratic primary, to go with four Republicans vying to be on the ballot for the April 9 election.
The only Republican primaries in the Southland other than the 2nd District are in Homer Township, where two candidates are vying for clerk and five for four trustee spots in the April 9 general election.
The polls are open until 7 p.m. Polling locations by township and township maps of precincts can be viewed by visiting cookcountyclerk.com or thewillcountyclerk.com.
