The Bloom Trail High School Navy Junior ROTC drill team recently completed its best season, earning third place at the Area Three West Drill Meet in the Great Lakes Naval Station drill hall.
This year’s competition was against 60 Navy Junior ROTC units from Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska.
The meet tests the units’ ability to march and also includes fitness competition, personnel inspection and an academic exam.
In competition where all units performed the same routine, the Bloom Trail team placed second in the unarmed regulation and third in the armed regulation.
In the exhibition routines where each unit designs its own drill sequence, Bloom Trail placed fourth in both armed and unarmed.
The physical fitness team placed fourth in its event, and the color guard finished fifth.
