Crete Public Library recently hosted Senior Day 2013 for about 20 senior citizens. The event included programs, lunch and entertainment.

A morning presentation, “Don’t be a Crime Target,” by Crete police Sgt. Robert Hill, shared information about fraud scams in home repair, home selling, Internet fraud and more.

Independence Physical Therapy specialists Dan Gerk, Barb Gerk and Lauren Bowman involved participants in “Starting an Exercise Program,” offering both standing and seated exercises.

A box lunch was provided by Jimbooo’s Italian Beef, while Bill the Band — with Bill Ehm, a one-man band — entertained the group with “Live Music for Lively People.” Ehm played guitar and harmonica and sang tunes covering many eras while several attendees danced.

Afternoon programs included “Fraud Prevention and Awareness,” presented by market manager Rebecca Nagle, from the Old Plank Trail Community Bank; an overview of Medicare by representatives from Walgreens; and a blood pressure check by Walgreens staff.
