Marian Catholic High School’s concert band was named the Honor Band, the top award, at the SuperState Band Contest at the University of Illinois.
The concert band at the Chicago Heights-based school has consistently earned superior ratings in Illinois High School Association Organizational Contests.
The band also placed first in its class at the State of Illinois Concert Band contest in every year attended and recently won the State of the Art Concert Band Contest.
“It was truly an honor to perform at the University of Illinois Superstate Concert Band Competition,” Bobby Lambert, assistant band director, said in a news release.
“The students performed at their highest level both on and off the stage. Marian Catholic could not have been better represented, having two ensembles produce highly artistic, highly memorable performances for some of the best audiences in the state,” he said.
