Franciscan St. James Health has opened an Express Care facility near the intersection of Dixie Highway and Vollmer Road in Chicago Heights.
The center offers immediate care treatment by physicians without appointments from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
The new, 6,300-square-foot facility features seven exam rooms and two procedure rooms, and is equipped with X-ray, laboratory and other diagnostic capabilities.
This is Franciscan St. James’ second Franciscan Express Care facility. It opened its first Express Care in Frankfort earlier this year.
“Franciscan Express Care offers accessible, economical medical care to patients, particularly for those with minor injuries and illnesses who don’t require a visit to a hospital emergency room,” Franciscan St. James president Seth Warren said.
Typical of the illness and injuries to be treated at Express Care facilities are cuts and lacerations, animal and insect bites, sprains and fractures, eye injuries, minor burns, ear infections, cold and flu symptoms, pneumonia and bronchitis, urinary tract and other infections, abdominal and back pain.
Franciscan Express Care also can perform school, employment and sports-related physical exams, as well as Department of Transportation screenings.
“Our Chicago Heights Franciscan Express Care is another example of how Franciscan St. James is constantly evolving to meet the needs of our community,” Warren said.
