The Marian Catholic High School Band Parents Association will host the 32nd annual Oktoberfest Arts and Crafts Show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 6 at the high school, 700 Ashland Ave., Chicago Heights.
More than 100 crafters will sell unique handmade crafts, from homemade pasta to handcrafted soap. Several vendors will offer favorite products from Green Envee, Pampered Chef, Gold Canyon candles and other businesses.
Authentic German food, including German potato salad, bratwursts, sausages, sauerkraut and homemade macaroni and cheese, will be available in the Sister M. Paul McCaughey Leadership Center. A bake sale corner will offer hundreds of assorted home-baked goods.
Proceeds benefit the award-winning Marian Catholic Marching Band, which in November will travel to New York to perform in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade.
“Not only is it a major fundraiser for the band and major contributor for its operation, but one of the really special things about Oktoberfest is the community spirit it creates,” event chair Lisa Collins said. “In addition, we have people who have visited or participated in the event for 10 to 15 years. It’s a family event that has generations returning along with new people coming every year.”
Collins said nearly every band parent and band student volunteers for Oktoberfest.
