Here is a look at what Southlanders in the SouthtownStar’s East region are accomplishing in college.

News includes University Park, Beecher, Calumet City, Chicago Heights, Country Club Hills, Crete, Dolton, Homewood, Lansing, Park Forest, Richton Park, Sauk Village and South Holland.

Cornell College

Kristoffer Kizer, of University Park, earned the Founders Scholarship in recognition of his accomplishments and was accepted at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa.

Eastern Illinois University

Several area students were named to the spring dean’s list at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. They include:

Beecher — Scott L. Blair, Ryan F. Purdy and Kelly T. Sullivan.

Calumet City — Aerianna E. Chancellor-Charles.

Chicago Heights — Jazmine E. Thompson.

Country Club Hills — Ronald T. Wabomnor.

Crete — Jonathan N. Lewis.

Dolton — Ieshia P. Johnson.

Homewood — Totiana P. Bennett and Kristin A. Robertson.

Lansing — Diamond A. Douglas, Michael J. Ustanik and Brenda R. Walker.

Park Forest — Lacretia R. Brazzleton, Modupeola O. Sobitan and Kyle D. Wathen.

Richton Park — Marissa A. Guenzi.

Sauk Village — Roya A. Johnson.

South Holland — Treasur J. Cunningham, Daniel T. Damiani, Brianne N. Dennis-Gary and Kayla M. Vaughan.

University of Evansville

Kasey Cartwright, of Park Forest, was among student-atheletes from the University of Evansville in Indiana who helped win the Missouri Valley Conference All-Academic Award.

The honor is given to the institution that finishes with the highest grade point average among its student-athletes that participate in the conference.
