Crete Park District hosts beginning violin classes

The Crete Park District will offer Suburban Youth Symphony Orchestra beginning violin classes from 4 to 4:45 p.m. Thursdays from Feb. 20 to April 24 at the Willard Wood Center, 515 First St., Crete. There will be no class on April 10.

Beginning violin lessons will be taught to participants ages 9 to 17 in a group format.

The $121 fee includes instrument rental. There is a $30 fee for the lesson book and music stand payable on the first day of class.

Registration is required one week in advance.

Children should bring a copy of their original essay, “Why I Want to Play the Violin,” on the first day of class.

Children will perform at the Suburban Youth Symphony Orchestra Concert at 4 p.m. April 27.
