The group provides a safe place for participants who have experienced the loss of a loved one to grieve with others who have had similar experiences, and to share feelings and start the healing process, according to the press release.

Registration is required by calling (708) 331-1360. The group meets in the North Building, second floor, at the main hospital campus in Harvey.

Grief support for men

Ingalls Health System offers a separate free monthly grief support group, “Straight Talk,” for men who have experienced the loss of a spouse or significant other, because men grieve differently than woman, according to Ingalls.

The group meets from 6 to 7 p.m. on the third Wednesday of every month. Meetings are on the second floor of the North Building at the main hospital campus in Harvey. Registration is required by calling (708) 331-1360.

Maternity suites tours

Expectant parents can tour the maternity suites of Ingalls Memorial Hospital and see the advantages of delivering their baby in a state-of-the-art birthing suite, according to the press release.

Labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum care all occur in the same room, allowing new parents to fully enjoy those first moments with the baby, the release said.

The free tours include information about admission procedures and are offered from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays, with the next session scheduled for May 21. For more information, call (708) 915-5334.
