Updated: July 30, 2014 6:09AM

Through a partnership with Integrated Rehab Consultants LLC, Prairie Manor Nursing and Rehab in Chicago Heights has added a physiatrist — a physician who specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation — at the facility three times a week, according to a press release from Prairie Manor.

Dr. Amish Patel, the founder and CEO of Integrated Rehab Consultants, will be the physiatrist.

Patel graduated from the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, getting his medical degree in 2006, according to the release. He graduated with honors in 2007 from an internship at Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago, the release said.

Patel began his specialty training in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital in Wheaton in 2007, it said. Patel headed up several committees there, including the ethics committee, patient safety committee, and GME committee, according to the release. He served as chief resident his senior year and graduated from his residency in 2010, it said.

Patel also served as medical director for Advanced Neurological Services and is a member of several professional societies, including the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine and the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the release said.

Integrated Rehab Consultants specializes in rehab in post-acute facilities and is among the largest groups in the country, the release said.

Prairie Manor Nursing and Rehab is at 345 Dixie Highway.
