Improv Army, speech team headline comedy night

Improv Army and speech team members will highlight the first comedy night of the year from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Shepard High School, 13049 S. Ridgeland Ave., Palos Heights. The doors open at 6:45 p.m., and tickets are $5.

Shepard has organized comedy shows featuring current students and alumni for the past five years. The school also will sponsor a second comedy night on May 10.

Cook County Corrections Retirees to meet

The Cook County Department of Corrections Retirees will meet at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Jedi Garden Restaurant, 9266 S. Cicero Ave., Oak Lawn. A breakfast and a short meeting is held every third Friday of the month. Information: Tom Panush, (708) 636-7548.

Library to host open mic

Oak Lawn Public Library, 9427 S. Raymond Ave., will host an open mic event for writers at 1 p.m. Saturday.

There is a five-minute time limit per reader. Light refreshments will be served.

Park district to offer CPR training

The Oak Forest Park District, 4412 Henry St., will offer CPR training for ages 16 and older from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
