St. Laurence hosts awards ceremony

St. Laurence High School in Burbank recently held its annual Laurence Awards Assembly with the entire student body.
This year’s recipients included Heart of the School Award winner Kathy Hynes; Black and Gold Award winner Chuck Naso; and Laurence Award winner Brian Vollan.
The Heart of the School Award is given to individuals who have volunteered their time and talents to further the mission of St. Laurence. Hynes is a math instructor, assistant principal and moderator of the Mothers’ Club.
The Black and Gold Award is given to a benefactor of the school who has furthered the school’s mission. Naso has supported the school over the years with the funding of important school projects and campaigns.
The Laurence Award is given to a faculty member whose spirit, enthusiasm and contributions has furthered the mission of St. Laurence. Vollan, a faculty member since 1996, is a math instructor and assistant track and field coach, and have instituted the activities period at the school, where each student has the opportunity to experience an extracurricular activity within the school day.
