Planet Fitness opens at The Plaza

Planet Fitness recently opened a 27,000-square-foot health club in The Plaza in Evergreen Park.

Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the club is at 9500 S. Western Ave. in the former Office Depot space. It’s the seventh Planet Fitness in the Chicago area.

Through Feb. 22, new members can sign up for $1, and basic membership is $10 a month. After Feb. 22, the initial membership fee rises to $39.

Planet Fitness also offers a premium “Black Card” membership for $19.99 a month that offers access to any of the chain’s clubs as well as unlimited fitness training and tanning and free haircuts.

Founded in 1992, Planet Fitness has 500 locations and is a sponsor of NBC-TV’s “The Biggest Loser.”
