Live entertainment and a chance to bid on a wide variety of items will come together Saturday at the Beverly Arts Center’s annual auction.

For the Love of Art, the center’s 41st annual auction, begins at 6 p.m. at the Beverly Arts Center, 2407 W. 111th St. in Chicago.

The event will feature a professional live auction offering an array of experience packages and items.

Packages include a trip for two to Miami for an international art show, a dinner party for 20 featuring food prepared by one of Chicago’s top chefs, and an “Everyone’s Irish” package that includes passes to the Beverly Art Center’s Chicago Irish Film Festival and South Side Irish Family Fest and box seats for a Bulls game.

The event features both silent and live auctions, live entertainment provided by the Smiley Tillmon Band and the Grace Notes, food served by Leona’s, sweets provided by Favia Cafe and a cash bar.

More than 400 people attended last year’s auction, which is the art center’s largest fundraiser of the year.

Tickets are $50 and available by calling (773) 445-3838 or online at www.beverlyartcenter.org.

Eileen Holderbaum, auction chair, said the event offers some unique packages, including the art show in Miami.

“One of the most prestigious art shows in the Americas, the 11th Art Basel Miami Beach, will feature works by more than 2,000 artists from more than 260 leading galleries from North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia and Africa,” Holderbaum said.

The show also showcases performance art, public art projects and video art and is a resource for art lovers interested in contemporary, emerging and museum-caliber works, she said.

Included in the package are airfare, three-night oceanfront accommodations at the Beacon Hotel South Beach, admission to the art shows and an exclusive tour of the exhibits.

The auction also will offer travel, entertainment, sports and cultural packages as well as service packages, including a bedroom makeover.

“The auction is a great time,” committee member Sal Campbell said. “Bidding on live and silent auctions items, dancing to the Smiley Tillmon Band, enjoying delicious food and cocktails all add up to a great night out and supports one of the area’s most important organizations.”
