The Evergreen Park Community High School District 231 Board of Education recently held the Students in Leadership board meeting at Evergreen Park Community High School.
Students, who are paired with board members and administrators, participated in a leadership experience by conducting a board meeting. Prior to the meeting, state Rep. Kelly Burke (D-Evergreen Park) met with the students and shared thoughts about public service.
The board’s appointed student ambassadors, who serve as student representatives and attend board meetings for one year, were paired with board president Ray Trzeciak and Supt. Elizabeth Hart.
Lauren Capizzi led the meeting as board president, Lauren Schulte provided input as superintendent and Alex Best acted as board secretary.
Other students who participated in the meeting as board members were Julieanna Eiber, Mike Lambton, Matt Morlan, Mary Kate Ogorzalek, Michelle Putlak, Alisha Kassam, Alana Lieske and Danielle Zofkie.
“This is a very special meeting for the Board of Education,” Hart said. “We love the interaction with students and enjoy seeing them act as the leaders of the school.”
