The Communion Dress and Suit Drive coordinated by St. Bernadette Girl Scout Troop 50838 was the girls’ first major community service project.

The girls communicated the clothing drive throughout the community and made posters, distributed fliers and advertised in the Catholic New World Newspaper. Troop members received donations from parishioners, school families and community friends.

In all, 24 dresses and seven suits were collected so far, but more items continue to be donated. “The troop would like to sincerely thank those that donated items,” said troop officials in a news release.

The First Communicants at St. Agnes of Bohemia in Chicago will benefit from the donations, and the troop members will earn a community service project award.
