Durbins of Evergreen Park recently held its Durbins Cares event to benefit the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation, a nonprofit organization that gives toys, gifts and gift certificates to children and teens fighting cancer.
The event raised more than $3,000 for the foundation and featured free pizza, garlic bread and mostaccioli; entertainment by Martin and Tony Acoustics; drink specials, a split-the-pot raffle and 26 raffle baskets.
“My daughter Jennifer was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 1,” Durbins manager Nancy Meyer said. “I have two friends currently fighting cancer. When cancer hits someone really close, you want to get involved with organizations like the Treasure Chest Foundation that help kids with cancer.”
“I am honored and privileged to be a part of the Treasure Chest Foundation, whose goal is to put smiles on the faces of children going through cancer treatment,” said Jane Perchez, administrative assistant for the Treasure Chest Foundation and Durbins Cares Committee chairperson. “It warms my heart.”
