Evergreen Park Community High School recently held its first On-the-Spot Admissions Day with Northern Illinois University.

NIU regional representative Tonetta Jones met with students during lunch periods to assist them with the application process, review official transcripts and deliver an admission decision.

Upon reviewing printed official transcripts and ACT scores, Jones conducted one-on-one interviews and admitted 12 seniors to the university.

Counseling intern Samantha Antos instituted the new initiative at the high school and said she hopes to host several more. She said she also hopes to raise awareness of the college opportunities available to students, as well as gain a stronger partnership between college institutions and the high school.

Students who were accepted to NIU during the event include Samantha Schickel, Kevin Heisterman, Diamond Williams, Samantha Michau, Michael Lambton, Britney DeMik, Michael Reuter, Kyle Venhuizen, Aniyah Jones, Annie Gortowski, Adam Goodman and Keith Ritter.
