De La Salle football players receive All-Chicago Catholic League honors

Five De La Salle student-athletes were named to the 2012 All-Chicago Catholic League Football First Team.
Attaining the prestigious plaudit were senior linebacker/defensive back Ryan Flynn (Mount Greenwood), junior offensive tackle Jamarco Jones, senior linebacker Troy Rayhill (Evergreen Park), junior defensive back/punter Ryan Rickert (Evergreen Park) and junior linebacker Jeff VanDyke.
VanDyke was De La Salle’s second-leading tackler with 61. Rayhill was third with 58. Rickert was tied for fourth with 49, while Flynn was eighth with 34. Rickert also served as De La Salle’s punter, averaging 34.6 yards per punt with a long of 59. Jones anchored a Meteor offensive line that allowed De La Salle’s ground game to account for 2,054 yards rushing and 22 touchdowns.
Making the All-CCL Second Team were offensive lineman Rich Collins, cornerback Collin Farley, running back Jonathan Hope, defensive end Quentin Patten, linebacker Anthony Pierce, offensive lineman Aaron Roberts, quarterback Shelby Spence and running back Mikale Wilbon.
