A driver having an apparent heart attack died while trying to get help at a fire station Wednesday afternoon in the Beverly community, authorities said.
Eric Clegg, 44, had chest pains and tried to get aid from personnel about 4:30 p.m. at the fire station near 104th Street and Vincennes Avenue, police said. His vehicle slightly struck the firehouse door as he pulled up, according to police.
Paramedics were unable to resuscitate Clegg and took him to Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park, where he was pronounced dead, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
An office spokesman said Clegg apparently had a heart attack, and an autopsy scheduled for Thursday would determine the cause of his death.
