Here is what Southlanders in the SouthtownStar’s Central region are accomplishing in school.
News includes Crestwood, Midlothian, Homer Glen, New Lenox, Mokena, Tinley Park and Oak Forest.
Student recieves Evans scholarship
Michael Buche, of Crestwood, recieved the Chick Evans Scholarship and will be attending the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. Buche is a senior at St. Laurence High School in Burbank.
Bremen step team takes second place
The step team from Bremen High School in Midlothian won second place at the Illinois Step League State Championships in Oswego.
The Bremen Steppers include Imani Clark, Shamyra Fitzpatrick, Kori German, Erykah Grady-Cohen, Shavon Harden, Morgan Hampton, Damisha Hills, Cynthia Holder, Khadijah Ibrahim, Linda Kimbrough, Takesha Langston, Destiny Mainor, Dejah Martin, LaTrice Montgomery, Adrienne Moore and Tianna Standberry.
Alyson Duzansky of Mokena and Michelle Ford of Homer Glen were named co-salutatorians for the class of 2013 at Providence Catholic High School in New Lenox.
Duzansky is the daughter of John and Lisa Duzansky. She is a graduate of St. Mary School in Mokena.
Ford is the daughter of Lawrence and Mary Ford. She is a graduate of Noonan Academy in Mokena.
Michelle Patino, Tinley Park High School; Alexis Jannotta, Bremen High School in Midlothian; and Kristen Bober-Gemmell, Oak Forest High School; received Best in Show awards at the Regional High School Art Exhibit from the art and design department of South Suburban College in South Holland.
Additionally, Brook Prusa, Oak Forest High School, won a Great Clay Award.
