Here is a look at sporting events in the SouthtownStar’s North region, which includes Alsip, Chicago Ridge, Evergreen Park, Hometown, Oak Lawn, Palos Heights, Palos Park, Palos Hills, and Worth.

SOUTHLAND: The Illinois Hoopla will host peewee basketball minicamps for grades one to three from Monday to Oct. 4, Oct. 7 to 18 and Oct. 21 to 30. Winter travel season tryouts also will take place for grades three to eight, beginning Monday. A Back to School camp is also running to Oct. 31. SOUTHLAND: The Illinois Hoopla will host a 3-on-3 Basketball Blowout tournament for boys and girls teams from grades three to eight. The event is scheduled for Oct. 7 to 16. Information: Rick Palmer at (708) 460-6513 or Hooplamr@aol.com or illinoishoopla.com.
OAK LAWN: Richards High School and boys basketball coach John Chappetto will host a boys minicamp for grades three to eight from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Oct. 28 to 30. Fee is $40. Information: John Chappetto at (708) 499-2550, Ext. 5340.
BRIDGEVIEW: The Bridgeview Park District invites all girls basketball teams to join its league, which runs from December to March. Team divisions are fourth, fifth and sixth grades, and seventh and eighth grades. Games will be played at the park district’s Sports Complex Gymnasium, 8100 S. Beloit Ave. Games will be on Saturdays and/or Sundays. Fee is $500 per team. Information: (708) 594-1818.
OAK LAWN: Unique Bassmasters, Rayjus Outdoors and the Oak Lawn High School Spartan fishing team and its sponsors will host the Rayjus Outdoors-Oak Lawn Community High School Bass Tournament on the Kankakee and Des Plaines rivers on Oct. 12. Cost per boat is $40 and schools may enter an unlimited number of boats. Space is limited to the first 50 boats registered. Information: Chris Kuchyt at email@example.com.
OAK LAWN: The Bear-ettes poms and Twirling Bears baton programs, of Midlothian and Oak Lawn, will conduct registration for pom, hip-hop, flag and baton classes for ages 6 and older from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Midlothian Park District. Information: (630) 324-6421.
CHICAGO: The Chicago Attitude women’s fast-pitch team is looking for current or former college players to compete in four weekend tournaments and round-robin play from June to August. Information: Robert Madrigal at firstname.lastname@example.org.
OAK LAWN: The Oak Lawn Swim Association Lightning will conduct tryouts for the fall-winter season from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Oak Lawn Community High School. The club is open to boys and girls ages 5 to 18. One must be able to swim 25 yards (one length of the pool) unassisted. Information: olsalightning.org.
