Updated: November 7, 2013 6:08AM

Evergreen Park Mayor James Sexton and Village Clerk Catherine T. Aparo will sponsor a property tax appeal seminar for taxpayers seeking to appeal their 2013 property tax assessments.

The seminar is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Oct. 15 at Evergreen Park Village Hall, 9418 S. Kedzie Ave.

The hourlong session will educate taxpayers on how to file a successful tax appeal. Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Dan Patlak will explain how property taxes are calculated and the appeal procedure of the Board of Review. Taxpayers will have an opportunity to work with staff from the Board of Review to address their specific questions and concerns.

The event is free, and there is no fee to appeal at the Board of Review. Taxpayers are asked to bring a copy of their most recent tax bill.

Appeal forms also may be picked up at the Board of Review, 118 N. Clark St., Room 601, Chicago; at the Bridgeview Satellite Office, 10200 S. 76th Ave., Room 237; or at the Worth Township Assessor’s Office, 11601 S. Pulaski Road, Alsip.

Contact outreach director Daniela Hernandez at (312) 603-7356 with questions.
