Evergreen Park Community High School will host a free community science lecture.
“Our Night Skies: Galaxies, Stars and Comets” will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Nov. 6 in the school’s newly renovated science department.
The school is at 9901 S. Kedzie Ave., Evergreen Park.
Steve Merriman, a graduate of Loyola and DePaul universities with degrees in physics, will be the guest speaker.
Merriman’s work focuses on the role magnetic fields play in the formation of high-mass stars. His presentation will be centered on Comet Ison, visible at the end of November and early December. Weather permitting, telescopes will be set up outside to view stars, galaxies and nebula.
Refreshments will be available during Merriman’s presentation.
