Area businesses are offering special promotions to raise donations for the Beverly Arts Center’s campaign to raise $500,000 in one year and receive a $4-to-$1 match that will eliminate $2.5 million in mortgage debt, according to a news release from the center.
“The owners of local businesses appreciate the importance of the Beverly Arts Center to our communities,” said Caroline Dwan, volunteer chair of the BAC Business Challenge Committee. “Developing these ‘pop-up’ fundraisers, then cross-promoting among all the participating businesses, is not only helping to raise critical funds for the BAC, it’s creating a powerful business-to-business connection.”
Leading the way in buying in to the BAC Challenge was Neil Byers, of Horse Thief Hollow, 10426 S. Western Ave., Chicago, according to the news release. The restaurant’s Hats Off to Home Brewers parking lot party, held in conjunction with Deschuttes Brewery in Oregon, raised more than $3,700 for the Challenge. Byers donated $1 for every new “like” received on the Horse Thief Hollow Facebook page.
Bill Guide, owner of Cork and Kerry, 10614 S. Western Ave., donated $500 to the BAC Challenge from the annual Shamrocktoberfest.
Gregg Wilson, owner of Hardboiled Coffee, 9136 S. Western Ave., donated $372 in proceeds from sales and donations from customers.
The BAC Business Challenge committee has been meeting with business owners in Chicago’s Beverly, Morgan Park and Mount Greenwood communities, plus those in Evergreen Park, Blue Island and other area communities to schedule Buy In to the BAC Challenge fundraisers.
Scheduled fundraisers include the Kean gas station, 2632. W. 111th St., donating five cents for every gallon of gas sold during December; Kentucky Fried Chicken, 10421 S. Western Ave., donating 15 percent of sales Dec. 3; Home Run Inn Pizza, 10900 S. Western Ave., donating 20 percent of sales Dec. 10; Top Notch Beefburgers, 2116 W. 95th St., donating 15 percent of sales Dec. 17; and Waldo Cooney’s Pizza, 2410 W. 111th St., donating 14 percent of sales Jan. 1.
Customers must mention “BAC Challenge” at all participating restaurants when ordering.
