Ruth Hansen, the associate director of corporate, government and foundation relations for St. Xavier University, recently was selected to participate in the International Society for Third Sector Research (ISTR) Ph.D. Seminar in July in Muenster, Germany, according to a press release from St. Xavier.
Hansen, of Evergreen Park, will be one of 50 invited doctoral students from around the world researching aspects of third sector and civil society. They will be joined by prominent senior scholars working in the field.
ISTR is a major international association promoting research and education in the fields of civil society, philanthropy and the nonprofit sector.
The workshop’s purpose is to provide doctoral students with the opportunity to receive extensive intellectual and methodological advice on their doctoral research, to introduce them to main theories and developments in the field, to reflect upon publication and career strategies, and to provide a unique opportunity to network with junior and senior scholars with the international ISTR research community.
Hansen’s research project focuses on the communication of the needs of marginalized and stigmatized populations, using a resource dependence framework.
