A taste of New Orleans is coming to Chicago’s South Side for Fat Tuesday, according to a news release from the Beverly Arts Center.
Mardi Gras beads, beer and bands (The Smiley Tillmon Band and Coyote Riot) will highlight the event, slated for 8 p.m. March 4 at the center, 2407 W. 111th St., the release said.
The Smiley Tillmon Band features Tony Award-nominated vocalist Felicia P. Fields, Grammy Award-winning guitarist Billy Flynn, 2013 Blues Music Award-nominated guitarist Kate Moss, international touring artist and instructor at the Old Town School of Folk Music drummer David Sims, two-time Chicago Bluesfest performer bassist Tom Rezetko, and Chicago Blues legend Smiley Tillmon, the release said.
Coyote Riot has its roots set deep in old folk and country/bluegrass string sounds of the past and present, according to the release. The band’s high-energy, foot-stomping sound has the twang of rockabilly backed up with tenor banjo, harmonica and fiddle, the release said.
Tickets to the Fat Tuesday Mardi Gras Party are $13, or $11 for BAC members, and can be bought by visiting www.beverlyartcenter.org or calling the box office at (773) 445-3838.
