Students at the Lyle Early Childhood Center recently experienced the changing of the seasons by photographing and comparing their own “special” spots around the school grounds.
Each child was given a camera to take his or her own pictures. Over the course of eight weeks they took four pictures and compared each picture to the previous one. Each child then made a poster for display.
The children pointed out many differences, from the color of the leaves on the tree to the trees that had lost all their leaves. They compared different color cars in the parking lot and the seasonal decorations in the widows. They also took a walk around the school grounds to stress the importance of exercise, center officials said.
“Through this comparison project, the children of Lyle Early Childhood Center meet many of the Illinois State Early Learning Standards and benchmarks, proving once again that learning can be fun,” said center officials.
