Wellness fair slated for Frankfort

Franciscan St. James Health will sponsor the ninth annual Frankfort Wellness Fair from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 4 at the Founders Center, 140 Oak St.

Hosted by the Village of Frankfort and the Frankfort Park District, the fair is free of charge.

It will include informational exhibits and giveaways, as well as free screenings for blood glucose/cholesterol, blood pressure, pulmonary issues, osteoporosis and body mass index.

The fair also will feature healthy cooking demonstrations and people can obtain free flu vaccines, while supplies last.

St. James physicians will be available to address health care questions in their area of specialty.

Also, there will be four free educational presentations. At 9:15 a.m. “Starting an Exercise Program for a Healthier Heart” will be presented by Dr. Michael Ward and at 10 a.m. “Simple Treatment Options for Heavy Menstrual Cycles” will be presented by Dr. Mari Ann Herbert.

At 10:15 a.m. “Diabetes: You are in the Driver’s Seat” will be given by Kelly Devine Rickert, registered dietician, and at 10:45 a.m. “COPD Awareness” will be given by Dr. Robert Kemp.
