A truck fire snarled eastbound traffic on Interstate 80 about 3 p.m. Tuesday, blocking the right and center lanes near New Lenox, according to Illinois State Police.
Traffic was at a standstill at least two miles west of the scene but began moving again shortly before 4 p.m.
The top of the truck’s cab was missing, either from the fire or from being removed to fight the fire, a witness said, and the back of the cab was charred.
No injuries were immediately reported by police or the New Lenox Fire Protetion District.
