Mokena welcomes new businesses

Updated: March 16, 2012 8:11AM

Several businesses have opened in recent weeks in Mokena, with more expected in the coming months.

Among the businesses that have opened are Fox Pool Corp., a pool products distributor; ABW LLC, a medical billing and accounts service; Retriever of Chicago, a credit card acceptance service for merchants and Joshua Jordan Salon.

Gas ‘n Wash, planned for 8810 191st St., will open a gas station and convenience store next month, with plans to add a Dunkin’ Donuts and car wash at a later date, according to Alan Zordan, Mokena’s community development director. Construction of a building for Central Illinois Trucks Group Inc. should be completed by June, he said.

Corn Products will get new name

Corn Products International Inc. will ask shareholders at the company’s May meeting to approve changing the company’s name to Ingredion.

The Westchester-based company, which has a plant in Bedford Park, said the new name better reflects its position as a supplier of starch and sweeteners. Corn Products is a major distributor of high-fructose corn syrup, used as a sweetener in a variety of foods and beverages.
