Frankfort recently received a grant totaling $64,528 for high-efficiency heaters for its new Utilities/Public Works facility at 524 Center Road and the Public Works Garage at 100 Sangmeister Road.
The Center Road facility has a total of 10 overhead heaters; all are more than 30 years old. The heaters were inspected and found to have cracked heat exchangers, village officials said. Parts for these old units were no longer available.
Three heaters at the Public Works Garage on Sangmeister also were in need of replacement. Through the efforts of staff, and the approval of the village board, grant funding was pursued for the replacement of the heaters, officials said.
A suitable grant was awarded from the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus for the efficiency heaters and bids were solicited. The bid was awarded to Dahlman Sheet Metal, a Frankfort business, in the amount of $64, 978. Officials said the village portion for the entire project totals $450.
“This is another great example of the efforts of our staff to pursue grant funding for necessary projects that save money for our residents,” said Frankfort Mayor Jim Holland. “Thanks to the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus for awarding the grant to our community.”
