Leadership changes from kindergarten through sixth grade have occurred in Summit Hill School District 161 due to the retirement of Walker Intermediate School principal Jan Zevkovich and the closing of Mary Drew School.
Current Drew School principal Kathryn Klein and Frankfort Square School principal Christine Carey will share the leadership of Rogus School starting this fall. They will support the shift from a districtwide kindergarten program to serving students in kindergarten classes only at Rogus.
Jason Isdonas, the current kindergarten principal, will serve at Frankfort Square School this fall. Carey will support Isdonas in the transition. Isdonas has several years of administrative experience with first- through fourth -graders.
Current Rogus principal Mike Ruffalo will serve at Walker Intermediate as building principal this fall. He is moving into this position to support the transition of fourth-graders into Walker School as fifth-graders. Ruffalo is the district’s senior building administrator, having served District 161 for 11 years.
Meet-and-greet sessions have taken place with school staff, and parents were informed of the administrative changes before spring break. District 161 School Community Organization leadership teams have been working together to develop assemblies and open houses this summer to support students and parents as they begin to transition into their new learning communities.
