Pool Closed: Splish Splash Pool in Midlothian will not be open for the 2012 season due to repair work. The Midlothian Park District is trying to get discounts for Midlothian residents at other area park district pools. Information: www.midlothianparkdistrict.org.

Contestants Wanted: The village of Frankfort and the Frankfort Area Jaycees will host the fourth annual Frankfort Amateur Rib Cook-Off from 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 4 at Breidert Green in downtown Frankfort. Sprinkler Program: The village of Orland Park’s Water Conservation Program will be in effect year-round. Lawn sprinkling only is permitted from 7 to 11 a.m. and 7 to 11 p.m. throughout the entire year. Those violating the village’s water usage provisions are subject to fines of $750 for each offense. Italian Fest: The Orland Township Senior Services Department will host a trip to Festa Italiana in Milwaukee, Wis. from July 19 to 20. The trip will depart from the parking lot next to Bank Financial on the northwest corner of 151st Street and 94th Avenue in Orland Park. Golf Outing: Registration ends July 9 for a President’s Cup golf outing hosted by the Mokena Community Park Foundation.
