Two teens mugged on Old Plank Road Trail in New Lenox

Two 15-year-old girls were treated for minor injuries after they were mugged at 11:30 p.m. June 28 while walking on Old Plank Road Trail, near Cedar Road and Joliet Highway in New Lenox, according to the Will County Sheriff’s office.

The girls were approached from behind by three males who demanded their purses and cell phones, police said. When the girls refused, they were pushed to the ground, choked and punched in the face, and one suspect ripped the earrings out of one of the victim’s�ears, police said.

The suspects were dressed in black, wearing hoodies, and displayed no weapons, police said. They fled on foot.

The girls were transported to Silver Cross Hospital and treated for minor injuries.
