Frankfort resident Michael Deering, 18, of Boy Scout Troop 237, recently received an Eagle Scout badge during the Eagle Scout Court of Honor at Lincoln-Way East High School.
Deering recently graduated from Lincoln-Way East High School with a grade-point average of 4.994. He played varsity tennis, was a member of the science and chess clubs, served as a peer tutor and is a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta.
Deering’s service project took place at Lincoln-Way East and required planning, developing and providing leadership to others to create an on-site learning tool for the high school agri-science classes and a self-guided tour environment for the community at large.
The project ended in more than 88 man hours and created a self-contained display of various prairie grasses and foliage.
Deering will attend Bradley University and plans to pursue a major in chemistry with an emphasis in secondary education.
