The Lincoln-Way North High School Mathletes team is off to a strong start, placing first in its conference Sept. 19.
“We’ve been working really hard,” said North mathletes coach Christin Parker. “We have seniors who are very passionate about math and success this year. It is contagious.”
Seniors Christian Gorski, Jaime DeRuiter, Cailey Wulf, Caitlin Broderick, Moira Quealy, Maryann Manaparambil and Joey Tijerina were outstanding in the permutation, combination and probability topic, scoring nearly a perfect score.
They were just five points shy of the mark.
Christian repeated the trend in another topic, scoring 45 out of a possible 50 in combinatorics.
