Currie Motors Ford of Frankfort recently teamed with Heartland Blood Centers to host a blood donation drive.
“Tom Butkus, one of our salespeople, told me there was a national blood shortage, so we decided to reach out to Heartland to host a drive and help,” said Leo Sfikas, Currie general manager. “With what’s going on in the East Coast, it just reinforces how important it is to contribute in any way we can.”
The Frankfort community rallied to the cause, donating 24 units during the drive.
“This was the most successful drive I’ve ever seen at a car dealership,” said Kathy Steury, a Heartland team leader. “We couldn’t be happier with the results.”
Ron Mackey was one of several customers who answered the call to help.
“It’s nice of the dealership to set something like this up,” he said. “It is definitely a good cause. My daughter-in-law was in intensive care for a month. After that I decided I would do this regularly. You can really see how important it is.”
“I’m very proud of the community and my staff for helping make this blood drive so successful,” Sfikas said. “We will definitely be doing more of these in the future.”
