Here is a look at upcoming concerts.
Gigs include Lincoln-Way Area Chorale’s A Choral Christmas concert in Frankfort and Southwest Symphony Orchestra’s Holiday Destinations concerts in Orland Park and Park Forest.
Lincoln-Way Area Chorale
The 80-voice adult Lincoln-Way Area Chorale will present its Christmas concert, A Chorale Christmas, at 3 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Lincoln-Way East Performing Arts Center, 201 Colorado Ave., Frankfort.
The chorale will perform under the direction of Gregory Day, the chorale’s new artistic director. Jason Randall will be accompanying the chorale.
Some of the numbers the chorale will perform include “Light A Tiny Candle” (an original composition by Day), “Baby What You Gonna Be,” “Carol of the Bells,” “Gloria in excelsis Deo,” “I Wonder As I Wander,” “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” “Jesus, Jesus Rest Your Head,” “Lo How A Rose E’er Blooming,” “Mr. Santa,” “Merry Christmas With Love,” “Hallelujah Chorus,” and “Peace, Peace, Peace on Earth.”
Singers from more that 13 communities in the southwest suburban area perform an annual Christmas concert as well as a spring concert each year. It is the purpose of the chorale to serve as an outlet to enrich and enhance musical opportunities for adults in the greater Lincoln-Way area.
The chorale has appeared with the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra and has performed at the Rialto Square Theatre with the American Legion Band. In fall, the chorale performed a benefit concert in Lockport.
Tickets for the Christmas concert, which kicks off the chorale’s 17th season, are $12 for adults and $10 for children and seniors at (815) 485-7357. Information: lwac.com.
